WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 2, 2004) - Axcera, a leading manufacturer and integrator of best-of-breed technology for the broadband wireless access industry, today announced that it will demonstrate live IP video conferencing using its Axity3G™ Broadband wireless access system, powered by IPWireless, at the Wireless Communications Association (WCA) tradeshow in Washington, DC.

Demonstrating the capabilities of the latest IPWireless Quality of Service (QoS) software, Axity3G offers network latencies that are a fraction of those achieved by other commercial data solutions. The QoS software, through the use of stateful algorithms, recognizes and prioritizes traffic, allowing for high quality delivery of voice and video messaging.

The desktop video conferencing demonstration allows convention attendees to experience high quality voice and video over the IP connection of the Axity3G network using laptop computers equipped with IPWireless PCMCIA card modems. Based on the worldwide UMTS-TDD standard, this technology offers the advantage of full mobility and has been proven in commercial deployments around the world.

"The many successful commercial deployments of Axity3G and IPWireless technology have demonstrated to the marketplace that wireless Internet delivery can compete head-to-head with cable and DSL offerings," said Richard Schwartz, director of marketing and product management for Axcera. "The mobility aspect alone provides a strong differentiation from these traditional services, and with capabilities like VoIP and video conferencing, this technology has taken another step toward becoming the preferred IP delivery method."

In addition to video conferencing, Axcera's live presentation at the WCA show also highlights high-speed Internet access using the new fourth-generation IPWireless pocket-sized desktop modem - the P1D. Available in frequency bands from 1.9GHz through 3.6GHz, IPWireless desktop modems are the smallest in the industry, facilitating the true mobility of the technology for users preferring the flexibility of a USB or Ethernet interface. The system's high-speed data capability and high capacity are demonstrated with multiple, simultaneous streaming media and bandwidth intensive file transfers along with the video conferencing traffic. The Axity3G mobile broadband solution is based on UMTS TDD, the part of the 3GPP family of standards that is optimized for high-speed data transmission.

Axcera will also display its full line of MMDS and ITFS transmitter and booster systems, designed for both analog and digital video delivery in the 2.5GHz to 2.7GHz frequency band.

The demonstration and displays can be viewed through Thursday, June 3, 2004 in the Axcera booth at the WCA 2004 trade show and exhibition in the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC.
