APRIL 14, 2008, LAWRENCE, PA, U.S.A. - TeamCast, a leader in Mobile TV and DTV transmission technology, is now providing state-of-the-art DVB-SH modulation technology to Axcera, a premier provider of transmission equipment for the television, mobile media and broadband wireless/MMDS industries.
Under this collaboration, Axcera will manufacture a range of innovative low to medium power transmitters and on-channel repeaters, which will meet the demands for the terrestrial segment of DVB-SH networks now being deployed. DVB-SH is a new standard that provides a hybrid satellite-terrestrial broadcast network for mobile multimedia services to the handset, and which is being trialled in both Europe and North America. Network implementers now have in the marketplace a range of proven equipment supporting the DVB-SH technology, and which meets their needs for both the implementation of the terrestrial segment and the overall system integration.
"We are delighted in this collaboration with TeamCast. Their new DVB-SH compliant range of OEM products allows us to quickly adapt to the needs of the expanding Mobile TV market worldwide and to produce a range of equipment fully meeting the requirements of new standards such as DVB-SH", says David Neff, President of Axcera.
For low power broadcasting, Axcera will display analog, ATSC, DVB-T and DVB-H versions of its Innovator® LX Low Power Solid-State product line. Axcera's low power transmitters, translators and boosters offer a high level of features and are available in many configurations, including Dual-Use™ analog/digital operation.
"The fruitful collaboration we have with Axcera will help DVB-SH technology establish itself in the Mobile TV marketplace", says Jean-Luc Pavy, CEO of TeamCast. "Starting from our recognised and deep expertise in Mobile TV technology we have been contributing significantly to the DVB-SH standardisation process and to the first field trials, in order to be able to introduce so early a completely validated DVB-SH product family."
Furthering its leadership position in the mobile media industry, Axcera in cooperation with TeamCast will be showcasing a live DVB-SH demonstration in the Axcera booth #C1307 at the National Association of Broadcasters trade show, April 14th through 17th, at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Axcera will also be demonstrating four other state of the art mobile media demonstrations employing the latest standards and technology. Visitors to the booth will have the opportunity to sample the user experience by viewing live program content on the latest mobile handsets.
