APRIL 14, 2008, LAWRENCE, PA, U.S.A. - Axcera, a leading manufacturer and integrator of best-of-breed technology for the television broadcast, mobile media and broadband wireless access industries and Unique Broadband System Ltd., a designer and manufacturer of a broad range of wireless digital broadcasting technologies, today announced this collaboration to produce a range of innovative low to medium power transmitters and repeaters/gap fillers, which will meet the demands for the rapidly emerging CMMB (STiMi) standard for mobile multimedia services.
CMMB is a new standard that enables hybrid satellite-terrestrial broadcast networks for mobile multimedia services to the handset, which is driven in part by China's aggressive deployment plans, but is also being planned for systems worldwide. Under this collaboration, Axcera will manufacture a range of innovative CMMB transmitters, base stations, terrestrial gap-fillers and complete transmission systems, along with full turnkey deployment services. UBS is now providing state-of-the-art CMMB solutions to Axcera including CMMB modulators, multiplexers, and equipment to support synchronization of hybrid satellite/terrestrial single frequency networks (SFNs).

Axcera will also be showing four other state of the art mobile media demonstrations employing the latest standards and technology. Visitors to the booth will have the opportunity to sample the user experience by viewing live program content on the latest mobile handsets.
