(June 8, 2009) - Axcera, a leading manufacturer and integrator of best-of-breed technology for the television broadcast, mobile media and broadband wireless access industries, today announced that it will present a tutorial discussing the various technologies available for enabling mobile TV and other mobile media services at the BroadcastAsia exhibition and conference, June 16th through June 19th, at the Singapore Expo in Singapore.
Television broadcasters are understandably enthusiastic about the new business opportunities that will come with mobile multimedia and mobile TV services in the near future. This tutorial is designed to enable broadcasters to understand and take full advantage of their existing transmission facilities when incorporating mobile broadcast capability. This paper will discuss such areas as exciter conversion, multiplexing, single frequency networks (SFNs), power level and coverage considerations for mobile vs. fixed reception, and all aspects of the transmission chain that are affected. Overall, the paper will cover the major technical issues to consider now and in the future for expanding terrestrial transmission systems to provide mobile/handheld services.
