LAWRENCE, PA, U.S.A. (January 6, 2010) - Axcera, a leading manufacturer and integrator of best-of-breed technology for the television broadcast, mobile television and broadband wireless access industries, today announced that it will demonstrate its ATSC M/H Mobile DTV transmission equipment in the OMVC TechZone, booth number 10548, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) from January 7th through 10th at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Axcera will broadcast a fully compliant ATSC A/153 Mobile DTV signal within the LVCC Central Hall on RF channel 38 with programming on four sub-channels.
Axcera will exhibit two market-focused Mobile DTV transmission systems: a complete television broadcast solution; and a laboratory signal generation and distribution system.
The complete television broadcast solution is designed to provide television broadcasters with Mobile DTV capability either as part of a new transmitter system or as a retrofit upgrade to virtually any existing transmission system. This package includes the Axcera MHPM-A ATSC M/H preprocessor/multiplexer and Axciter Intelligent Modulator, along with encoding, service signaling and electronic service guide (ESG) equipment. The DTxA2C distributed transmission adaptor and "slave-mode" modulator options are also available to convert a standard transmission system into an ATSC A/110B-compliant single frequency network (SFN) for optimal Mobile DTV coverage.
The laboratory signal generation and distribution system is designed to provide receiver manufacturers and test laboratories with a signal source for verifying and optimizing Mobile DTV receiver performance. This system includes Axcera's DM8BL-R ATSC M/H exciter and can be packaged with the company's MHPM-A M/H preprocessor, and encoding and ESG equipment, or with a stream server that provides an ATSC M/H bitstream directly to the exciter. The system offers enough signal level to provide in-building UHF or VHF coverage through an antenna or a cable distribution network.
