LILLY BROADCASTING AND SJL CHOOSE AXCERA FOR DIGITAL TELEVISION TRANSMITTERS
Axcera to Provide DTV Transmitters for Pennsylvania and New York Broadcasters' Digital Transitions

APRIL 12, 2007, LAWRENCE, PA, U.S.A. - Axcera, a leading manufacturer and integrator of best-of-breed technology for the television broadcast, mobile media and broadband wireless access industries, today announced that it has been selected by television station owners Lilly Broadcasting and SJL to provide digital television (DTV) transmitters for the companies' television stations in Pennsylvania and New York.

Lilly and SJL will use Axcera Innovator HX solid-state UHF and VHF ATSC transmitters for their conversions to digital transmission. WSEE-DT in Erie, Pennsylvania will be the first station to receive a new Axcera transmitter with WICU-DT, also in Erie, and WENY-DT in Elmira, New York to follow.

While WSEE-DT and WENY-DT both require UHF transmitters, WICU-DT has been allocated a VHF channel for digital operation. One advantage that made the Innovator HX transmitters attractive to Lilly and SJL is that the UHF and VHF versions share many common components, including the exciter and control system. This commonality means that group owners can stock fewer spare parts and that both station and group engineers can be familiar with all of the transmitters without requiring special training.

The companies evaluated various transmitters and chose the Innovator HX after a visit to Axcera's headquarters in southwestern Pennsylvania. "We toured the factory and got a good understanding of Axcera's strong commitment to engineering and product quality," said Brian Lilly, General Manager of WSEE-DT. "As we near the end of the transition from analog to digital television, the reliability of our digital facilities will be of utmost importance, so it is essential that we choose companies like Axcera for our mission critical equipment."

The Innovator HX is part of Axcera's full line of digital television transmitters, available in frequency bands from VHF to 2.7GHz.
