Axcera Chosen by Saga Communications for Low Power Solid State DTV Transmitters

Multi-station Owner Selects DT400A and DT800A Series Transmitters for Low Power DTV Build-out

LAWRENCE, Pa. April 29, 2002 - Axcera, a leading manufacturer of high-quality equipment and systems for the television broadcast and broadband wireless access/MMDS industries, today announced it has signed an agreement with Saga Communications to supply DT400A and DT800A series VHF and UHF television transmitter systems for the Group's digital television (DTV) stations.

Under the terms of the agreement, Axcera will provide Saga with low power DTV transmitter systems for its new digital installations in Missouri, Texas and Mississippi. Saga will build four DTV stations with low power systems, initially providing coverage to each station's city of license and then increasing power as market demand for DTV increases.

According to Greg Urbiel, director of engineering for Saga Communications, Axcera offered the best solution and strong pre-sale support. "Our approach to DTV is market-by-market, allowing us to manage the available budget while providing signal to each community we serve," said Urbiel. "Our Axcera sales manager and applications engineers worked with us on several iterations, from high power systems to low power, giving us the ability to choose the best transmitters for our needs."
