Axcera Presents Live VoIP Demonstration Using IPWireless Technology at the Wireless Communications Show in Washington DC

Axity3G Broadband Offers QoS Functionality for Voice Services

WASHINGTON, D.C. July 10, 2003 – Axcera, a leading supplier of carrier-class equipment and systems for the broadband wireless access industry, has successfully demonstrated live voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) using its Axity3G Broadband wireless access system, powered by IPWireless.

Axity3G, incorporating the most recent IPWireless software, now provides Quality of Service (QoS) functionality for VoIP. Using QoS, Axity3G supports VoIP with network latencies that are 5 to 10 times lower than those achieved by other commercial data solutions. Low latency is a fundamental requirement of commercially viable VoIP solutions.

The demonstration allows convention attendees to experience the excellent voice quality by making multiple calls simultaneously through a single Axity3G portable modem.

In addition to VoIP, Axcera’s live presentation at the WCA show also highlights the new Axity3G wireless PCMCIA card modem as well as the new third-generation desktop modem - the P1C. The system’s high-speed data capability and high capacity are demonstrated with multiple, simultaneous streaming media and bandwidth intensive file transfers along with the VoIP traffic.

The demonstration can be viewed through Thursday, July 10, 2003 in the Axcera booth at the Washington, DC convention center.
